Workman LLP, in partnership with NewRiver REIT plc, the landlord of The Sovereign Shopping Centre, Boscombe presenting an exciting, hands-on and varied role for a passionate, hardworking and dynamic marketing professional to join their highly entrepreneurial and rapidly growing company. The Marketing Assistant will have industry experience within the retail environment as desirable but not essential.

On site management teams form an integral part of the Workman Retail service. It is essential that all of the management team work to the same brief and standards at all times, and ensure that on-site teams are provided with the support they need to undertake their role.

NewRiver’s shopping locations really are a part of the local community and are where the UK family budget is spent day in and day out.

NewRiver take a very pro-active, customer-first approach to the management of their assets, believing that shopping centres should be run as though NewRiver themselves were retailers. Marketing plays a hugely important role within that strategy. NewRiver actively engage with retailers, consumers, investors and key community stakeholders to regenerate their retail destinations and the towns they sit within.

 

Reporting Lines

• Reporting directly to Centre Manager (first line of contact)

• Reporting indirectly to Property Manager (Workman LLP)

• National Shopping Centre Marketing Manager (NewRiver)

 

The Role

This is exciting hands-on role to oversee the marketing for The Sovereign Shopping Centre, Boscombe. Working closely with Centre Manager to create the annual marketing plan in line with overall business objectives; managing and executing the implementation of the strategy; measuring and reporting on effectiveness and return on investment; and managing the respective marketing budget.

Core Objectives

• Increase footfall, dwell time, basket spend and deliver an excellent customer experience. (general shopping centre objectives)

• Effective budget management and creation of budget efficiencies

• Measurement of the marketing strategy and budget to demonstrate return on investment (ROI)

• Maximising PR opportunities for the shopping centre

• Bringing the Key Stakeholders within the town together maximising the shopping centre’s opportunity to engage

• Implement national campaigns at local level

• Attend regular BID meeting to provide a cohesive approach with the town centre strategy

 

Key Responsibilities

• Create and execute the annual marketing strategy for the shopping centre in line with the national business marketing objectives

• Effective management of the shopping centre’s marketing budget in line with overall service charge

• Manage & deliver an annual programme of exciting, relevant & original events and campaigns

• Actively manage each shopping centre’s digital and social communications including Twitter, Facebook & website; as well as providing recommendations for new digital channels or initiatives

• Manage the email marketing platform

• Active PR & Media management including the curation of original PR stories; writing and issuing campaign-led press releases; nurturing relations with key media; crisis-management; ensuring the shopping centre is at front of mind for the target media

• Stakeholder engagement with local community interest groups through partnerships

• Manage/brief all creative, design and collateral (where there isn’t a local marketing administrator)

• Analyse customer and market research and retail trends to inform the marketing strategy

• Evaluation of all on-site marketing activities to determine the effectiveness and return-on-investment including post-event reporting and data-analysis.

• Quarterly Marketing Reports

• Execute sponsorship and promotions opportunities where appropriate

• Manage external agencies across creative, events, PR and promotional campaigns

• Deliver a slick, relevant and original Christmas experience at the shopping centre

• Develop customer loyalty programmes for the centre

• Participation within the BID or Town Team activities pertaining to marketing

• Collaboration with the wider NewRiver Marketing teams and portfolio marketing projects

• Analytical, able to manage budgets and utilise data

• Adept digital and social media experience

• Competent IT skills

• Excellent writing and verbal skills

• Graphics and creative design skills preferable

This role requires careful time management and excellent relationship building skills
